Some Virus like Ravmon Virus , Heap41a worm which are not detected by anti virus normally spreads mostly by the Pen Drives .. In such a case what can you do to prevent your PC from getting infected with Virus that spreads through USB devices or Pen Drives ?

You can protect your PC by just following the simple steps below . It won't take much time. Connect your Pen Drive or USB drive to your computer .

Now a dialogue window will popup asking you to choose among the options as shown in the above figure .

Don't choose any of them , Just simply click Cancel.

*Now go to Start--> Run and type cmd to open the Command Prompt window ..

*Now go to My Computer and Check the Drive letter of your USB drive or Pen Drive. ( E.g. If it is written Kingston (I:) , then I: will be the drive letter ..)

*In the Command Window ( cmd ) , type the drive letter: and Hit Enter ..

*Now type dir/w/o/a/p and Hit Enter *You will get a list of files . In the list , search if anyone of the following do exist

1. Autorun.inf

2. New Folder.exe

3. Bha.vbs

4. Iexplore.vbs

5. Info.exe 6. New_Folder.exe 7. Ravmon.exe 8. RVHost.exe or any other files with .exe Extension .

If you find any one of the files above , Run the command attrib -h -r -s -a *.* and Hit Enter.

Now Delete each File using the following Command del filename ( E.g del autorun.inf ) .

That's it . Now just scan your USB drive with the anti virus you have to ensure that you made your Pen Drive free of Virus ..

This virus is very very common now...To know whether ur system is infected just type C:\heap41a in the address bar...if there is a folder named heap41a, then ur system is infected...(AVAST antivirus is the best solution for this worm...) Symantec also works.

Easy guide to BIA-Bengaluru International Airport

Easy Guide to Bengaluru International Airport

Bengaluru International Airport, the gateway to South India,
is situated to the north of Bengaluru on the National Highway 7 and is
40kms from the city’s central business district.

This Easy Guide will give you a snapshot of the airport and how to get there.
GETTING TO AND FROM BENGALURU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

AIRPORT TAXI SERVICE

Easy Cabs and Meru Cabs operate professional and reliabletaxi services to and from Bengaluru International Airport.

The taxis wait on the inner curb right in front of the Terminal Building as well as in the
designated taxi area.

There is no need to purchase a voucher. They were all in their prime, between 27 and 33 years, and handled challenging projects at work in their respective companies. They worked long and continuous hours. The end struck them very suddenly, and it looked as if their hearts refused to take any more stress ," said Dr Dwarakanath, director of Mitran Foundation, who has studied stress components in 40 software companies in Chennai during the last six months.

The study, conducted at a cost of Rs 45 lakhs, covered more than 4,000 software professionals from 80 companies who were in service for a minimum of three years. The email responses were scientifically tabulated and the findings were ready in 2002. Dr Dwarakanath, who was the late Dhirubhai Ambani's personal stress management consultant, said questionnaires extracting every minute detail were sent to the respondents. The personal background, family history and personal characteristics of these individuals were assessed and it was found that the stress in these professionals was only due to work pressure. All other factors were eliminated.

"Our study confirmed that the number of suicides, divorces, heart ailments, BP and diabetes patients and mental depression are the highest in the software industry. The fancy salaries of software professionals are no longer something to rejoice about ," Dr Dwarakanath said.
" We found that the software industry has simply no routine. Deadlines hang before them and every day they chase new problems. During weekends more than 60 per cent of the vehicles are found parked in the office complexes. There is no physical exercise and new food habits favoured by pizza culture fuel the problem. Cervical spondilitis and wrist problems due to uncomfortable handling of the computer mouse, eye problems and discomfort in bowel movements are common.
The stress for couples where both are employed in the IT industry is the worst. The simple step of taking time off from work for three months allowed an IT couple wanting a child for years to conceive one," Dr Dwarakanath said.

M.T.R. Venukopalan, senior training coordinator, Covansys India, acknowledged that IT professionals were the most stressed individuals. "Even if the company sponsors a movie or self-care lecture, not many attend them," he said. Jyothsana, a travel coordinator for Temenos India Pvt Ltd, expressed concern for the young employees who complain of back and knee pains. She acknowledged that IT professionals require a specific eating and physical exercise routine to ease their stress. "Our lives are becoming mechanical, guided only by deadlines ," she said.

So think again if you are staying late in the office regularly. Think again about your family. Think again about your social life and health.

Work is essential. An information system depends
on the resources of people, hardware, software, data, and networks to perform input,
processing, output, storage, and control activities that convert data resources into
information products.

The information systems model outlined in the text emphasizes four major concepts that
can be applied to all types of information systems:
· People, hardware, software, data, and networks, are the five basic resources of
information systems.
· People resources include end users and IS specialists, hardware resources consist of
machines and media, software resources include both programs and procedures, data
resources can include data and knowledge bases, and network resources include
communications media and networks.
· Data resources are transformed by information processing activities into a variety of
information products for end users.
· Information processing consists of input, processing, output, storage, and control
activities.

Information System Resources:
The basic IS model shows that an information system consists of five major resources:
· People resources
· Hardware resources
· Software resources
· Data resources
· Network resources

<span style="font-weight: bold; Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit enter. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30.
On October 28, 1955, shortly after 9:00 p.m., William Henry Gates III was born. He was born into a family with a rich history in business, politics, and community service. His great-grandfather had been a state legislator and mayor, his grandfather was the vice president of a national bank, and his father was a prominent lawyer. [Wallace, 1992, p. 8-9] Early on in life, it was apparent that Bill Gates inherited the ambition, intelligence, and competitive spirit that had helped his progenitors rise to the top in their chosen professions. In elementary school he quickly surpassed all of his peer's abilities in nearly all subjects, especially math and science. His parents recognized his intelligence and decided to enroll him in Lakeside , a private school known for its intense academic environment. This decision had far reaching effects on Bill Gates's life. For at Lakeside , Bill Gates was first introduced to computers.

First computing Experience
In the Spring of 1968, the Lakeside prep school decided that it should acquaint the student body with the world of computers [Teamgates.com, 9/29/96]. Computers were still too large and costly for the school to purchase its own. Instead, the school had a fund raiser and bought computer time on a DEC PDP-10 owned by General Electric. A few thousand dollars were raised which the school figured would buy more than enough time to last into the next school year. However, Lakeside had drastically underestimated the allure this machine would have for a hand full of young students.
Bill Gates, Paul Allen, and a few other Lakeside students (many of whom were the first programmers hired at Microsoft) immediately became inseparable from the computer. They would stay in the computer room all day and night, writing programs, reading computer literature and anything else they could to learn about computing. Soon Gates and the others started running into problems with the faculty. Their homework was being turned in late (if at all), they were skipping classes to be in the computer room and worst of all, they had used up all of the schools computer time in just a few weeks. [Wallace, 1992, p. 24]

In the fall of 1968, Computer Center Corporation opened for business in Seattle . It was offering computing time at good rates, and one of the chief programmers working for the corporation had a child attending Lakeside . A deal was struck between Lakeside Prep School and the Computer Center Corporation that allowed the school to continue providing it's students with computer time. [Wallace, 1992, p. 27] Gates and his comrades immediately began exploring the contents of this new machine. It was not long before the young hackers started causing problems. They caused the system to crash several times and broke the computers security system. They even altered the files that recorded the amount of computer time they were using. They were caught and the Computer Center Corporation banned them from the system for several weeks.

Bill Gates, Paul Allen and, two other hackers from Lakeside formed the Lakeside Programmers Group in late 1968. They were determined to find a way to apply their computer skills in the real world. The first opportunity to do this was a direct result of their mischievous activity with the school's computer time. The Computer Center Corporation's business was beginning to suffer due to the systems weak security and the frequency that it crashed. Impressed with Gates and the other Lakeside computer addicts' previous assaults on their computer, the Computer Center Corporation decided to hire the students to find bugs and expose weaknesses in the computer system. In return for the Lakeside Programming Group's help, the Computer Center Corporation would give them unlimited computer time [Wallace, 1992, p. 27]. The boys could not refuse. Gates is quoted as saying "It was when we got free time at C-cubed (Computer Center Corporation) that we really got into computers. I mean, then I became hardcore. It was day and night" [Wallace, 1992, p. 30]. Although the group was hired just to find bugs, they also read any computer related material that the day shift had left behind. The young hackers would even pick employees for new information. It was here that Gates and Allen really began to develop the talents that would lead to the formation of Microsoft seven years later.

Roots of Business Career
Computer Center Corporation began to experience financial problems late in 1969. The company finally went out of business in March of 1970. The Lakeside Programmers Group had to find a new way to get computer time. Eventually they found a few computers on the University of Washington 's campus where Allen's dad worked. The Lakeside Programmers Group began searching for new chances to apply their computer skills. Their first opportunity came early the next year when Information Sciences Inc. hired them to program a payroll program. Once again the group was given free computer time and for the first time, a source of income. ISI had agreed to give them royalties whenever it made money from any of the groups programs. As a result of the business deal signed with Information Sciences Inc., the group also had to become a legal business [Wallace, 1992, p. 42-43]. Gates and Allen's next project involved starting another company entirely on their own, Traf-O-Data. They produced a small computer which was used to help measure traffic flow. From the project they grossed around $20,000. The Traf-O-Data company lasted until Gates left for college. During Bill Gates' junior year at Lakeside , the administration offered him a job computerizing the school's scheduling system. Gates asked Allen to help with the project. He agreed and the following summer, they wrote the program. In his senior year, Gates and Allen continued looking for opportunities to use their skills and make some money. It was not long until they found this opportunity. The defense contractor TRW was having trouble with a bug infested computer similar to the one at Computer Center Corporation. TRW had learned of the experience the two had working on the Computer Center Corporation's system and offered Gates and Allen jobs. However thing would be different at TRW they would not be finding the bugs they would be in charge of fixing them. "It was at TRW that Gates began to develop as a serious programer," and it was there that Allen and Gates first started talking seriously about forming their own software company [Wallace, 1992, p. 49-51].

In the fall of 1973, Bill Gates left home for Harvard University [Teamgates.com, 9/29/96]. He had no idea what he wanted to study, so he enrolled as prelaw. Gates took the standard freshman courses with the exception of signing up for one of Harvard's toughest math courses. He did well but just as in high school, his heart was not in his studies. After locating the school's computer center, he lost himself in the world of computers once again. Gates would spend many long nights in front of the school's computer and the next days asleep in class. Paul Allen and Gates remained in close contact even with Bill away at school. They would often discuss ideas for future projects and the possibility of one day starting a business. At the end of Gates's first year at Harvard, the two decided that Allen should move closer to him so that they may be able to follow up on some of their ideas. That summer they both got jobs working for Honeywell [Wallace, 1992, p. 59]. As the summer dragged on, Allen began to push Bill harder with the idea that they should open a software company. Gates was still not sure enough to drop out of school. The following year, however, that would all change.

The Birth of Microsoft
In December of 1974, Allen was on his way to visit Gates when along the way he stopped to browse the current magazines. What he saw changed his and Bill Gates's lives forever. On the cover of Popular Electronics was a picture of the Altair 8080 and the headline "World's First Microcomputer Kit to Rival Commercial Models." He bought the issue and rushed over to Gates's dorm room. They both recognized this as their big opportunity. The two knew that the home computer market was about to explode and that someone would need to make software for the new machines. Within a few days, Gates had called MITS (Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems), the makers of the Altair. He told the company that he and Allen had developed a BASIC that could be used on the Altair [Teamgates.com, 9/29/96]. This was a lie. They had not even written a line of code. They had neither an Altair nor the chip that ran the computer. The MITS company did not know this and was very interested in seeing their BASIC. So, Gates and Allen began working feverishly on the BASIC they had promised. The code for the program was left mostly up to Bill Gates while Paul Allen began working on a way to simulate the Altair with the schools PDP-10. Eight weeks later, the two felt their program was ready. Allen was to fly to MITS and show off their creation. The day after Allen arrived at MITS, it was time to test their BASIC. Entering the program into the company's Altair was the first time Allen had ever touched one. If the Altair simulation he designed or any of Gates's code was faulty, the demonstration would most likely have ended in failure. This was not the case, and the program worked perfectly the first time [Wallace, 1992, p. 80]. MITS arranged a deal with Gates and Allen to buy the rights to their BASIC.[Teamgates.com, 9/29/96] Gates was convinced that the software market had been born. Within a year, Bill Gates had dropped out of Harvard and microsoft was formed.

DRINK WATER ON EMPTY STOMACH

It is popular in Japan today to drink water immediately after waking up every morning. Furthermore, scientific tests have proven a its value. We publish below a description of use of water for our readers. For old and serious diseases as well as modern illnesses the water treatment had been found successful by a Japanese medical society as a 100% cure for the following diseases:

Headache, body ache, heart system, arthritis, fast heart beat, epilepsy, excess fatness, bronchitis asthma, TB, meningitis, kidney and urine diseases, vomiting, gastritis, diarrhea, piles, diabetes, constipation, all eye diseases, womb, cancer and menstrual disorders, ear nose and throat diseases.

METHOD OF TREATMENT

1. As you wake up in the morning before brushing teeth, drink 4 x 160ml glasses of water

2. Brush and clean the mouth but do not eat or drink anything for 45 minute

3. After 45 minutes you may eat and drink as normal.

4. After 15 minutes of breakfast, lunch and dinner do not eat or drink anything for 2 hours

5. Those who are old or sick and are unable to drink 4 glasses of water at the beginning may commence by taking little water and gradually increase it to 4 glasses per day.

6. The above method of treatment will cure diseases of the sick and others can enjoy a healthy life.

The following list gives the number of days of treatment required to cure/control/reduce main diseases:
1. High Blood Pressure - 30  days
2. Gastric - 10  days
3. Diabetes - 30  days
4. Constipation - 10  days
5. Cancer - 180 days
6. TB - 90  days
7. Arthritis patients should follow the above treatment only for 3 days in the 1st week, and from 2nd week onwards - daily.

This treatment method has no side effects, however at the commencement of treatment you may have to urinate a few times.
It is better if we continue this and make this procedure as a routine work in our life.
Drink Water and Stay healthy and Active.
This makes sense .. The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals ..not cold water. Maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating!!! Nothing to lose, everything to gain...
For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you.
It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion.
Once this "sludge" reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

A serious note about heart attacks: Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting.
Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line.

You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack.

Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms.

60% of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up.

Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know, the better chance we could survive...

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this mail sends it to everyone they know, you can be sure that we'll save at least one life.

Water therapy

Drink six (6) glasses of water (1.5 liters) everyday and avoid medicine, tablets, injections, diagnosis, doctor fees, etc.
You can never believe before practicing.
List of Diseases That Can Be Cured By Water Therapy

1 Blood Pressure / Hypertension
2 Anemia (Blood Shortage)
3 Rheumatism (Pain in joints / muscles)
4 General Paralysis
5 Obesity
6 Arthritis
7 Sinusitis
8 Tachycardia
9 Giddiness
10 Cough
11 Leukemia
12 Asthma
13 Bronchitis
14 Pulmonary Tuberculosis
15 Meningitis
16 Kidney Stones
17 Hyper Acidity
18 Dysentry
19 Gastroenteritis
20  Uterus Cancer
21 Rectal Piodapse
22 Constipation
23 Hostorthobics
24 Diabetes
25 Eye Diseases
26 Ophthalmic Hemorrhage & Opthalmia (Reddisheye)
27 Irregular Menstruation
28 Breast Cancer
29 Laryngitis
30 Headache
32 Leukemia
33 Urogenital Diseases

Therapy Procedure

1.Early morning, after you get up from bed, (without even brushing your teeth) drink 1.5 liters of water i.e., 5 to 6 glasses. Let us all know that ancient Indians termed this therapy as "Usha Paana Chikitsa" . You may wash your face thereafter.

2 Here it is very essential to note that nothing else, neither drinks nor solid food of any sort should be taken within 1 hour before and after drinking these 1.5 liters of water.

3 It is also to be strictly observed that no alcoholic drinks should be taken the previous night.

4 If required, boiled and filtered water may be used for this purpose.

5 It is difficult to drink 1.5 liters of water at one time, but you will get used to it gradually.

6 Initially, while practicing you may drink four glasses first and to balance two glasses after a gap of two minutes.

7 You may find the necessity to urinate 2 to 3 times within an hour, but it will become normal after quite some time.

By Research and Experience
The following diseases are observed to be cured with this therapy within the indicated days as below:

Ø Constipation               - 1 day
Ø Acidity                        - 2 days
Ø Diabetes                     - 7 days
Ø Cancer                       - 4 weeks
Ø Pulmonary TB             - 3 months
Ø BP & Hypertension       - 4 weeks

Note:
It is advised that persons suffering from Arthritis or Rheumatism should practice this therapy thrice a day, i.e. morning, midday and night, 1 hour before meals for one week; and twice a day subsequently until the disease disappears.

How Does Pure Water Act?
Consuming ordinary drinking water by the right method purifies human body. It renders the colon more effective by forming new fresh blood, known in medical terms as " Haematopaises". That the mucous folds of the colon and intestines are activated by this method is an undisputed fact, just as the theory that the mucous fold produces new fresh blood.

If the colon is cleansed then the nutrients of the food taken several times a day will be absorbed and by the action of the mucous folds they are turned into fresh blood. The blood is all-important in curing ailments and restoring health and for this water should be consumed in a regular pattern.

Life is Short, Just go for it
Please spread this message to your friends, relatives and neighbors. It is a great service to the cause of humanity.

Take care of urselves and your loved ones

Advice to young programmers(This is the summary of speech Given by Alex Stepenov (Principal Scientist, Adobe Systems) at Adobe India on 30 Nov 2004. )

1. Study , Study and Study

- Never ever think that you have acquired all or most of the knowledge which exists in the world. Almost everybody in US at age of 14 and everybody in India at age of 24 starts thinking that he has acquired all the wisdom and knowledge that he needs. This should be strictly avoided.

- You should be habituated to studies...exactly in the same way as you are habituated to brushing teeth and taking bath every morning. The habit of study must become a ‘part of your blood’. And the study should be from both the areas: CS, since it is your profession, and something from non-CS...Something which doesnot relate to your work. This would expand your knowledge in other field too. A regular study, everyday, is extremely essential. It doesnot matter whether you study of 20 minutes of 2 hours, but consistency is a must.

- You should always study basics and fundamentals. There is no point in going for advanced topics. When I was at the age of 24, I wanted to do PhD in program verification, though I was not able to understand anything from that. The basic reason was that my fundamental concepts were not clear. Studying ‘Algebraic Geometry’ is useless if you donot understand basics in Algebra and Geometry. Also, you should always go back and re-read and re-iterate over the fundamental concepts. What is the exact definition of ‘fundamental’? The stuff which is around for a while and which forms basic part of the concepts can be regarded as more fundamental. Of course, everybody understands what a fundamental means.

- Here are few books which I would strongly recommend that every CS professional should read and understand.

i. "Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs" by Albenson and Sussman
I personally donot like the material present in this book and I do have some objections about it but this is the best book I have ever seen which explains all the concepts in programming in a clear and excellent way.
This book is available online at http://mitpress.mit.edu/sicp/

ii. Introduction to Computer Architecture: by Hennessy and Patterson.
How many of you have shipped the programs by writing them in assembly? A very good understanding of basics of how a computer operates is what every CS professional must have.
H&P Wrote two books on CA. I am talking about their first book, the introductory text for understanding basic aspects of how a computer works.
Even if you feel that you know whatever is written in that book, donot stop reading. It’s good to revise basics again and again.
iii. "Fundamentals of Programming" by Donald Knuth.
The core of CS is algorithms and Data structures. Every CS professional must have the 3 volumes of Knuth’s Book on programming. It really doesnot matter if you take 30 years of your life to understand what Knuth has written, what is more important is that you read atleast some part of that book everyday without fail.
iv. Introduction to Algorithms by Cormen, Leiserson and Rivest
This book should be read daily to keep your concepts fresh. This is the best book for fundamental concepts in algorithms.

2. Learn Professional Ethics

- As a CS Professional, you are morally obliged to do a good job. What this means is that you are supposed to do your job not for your manager but for yourself. This is already told in Bhagwatgeeta : Doing duties of your life.

- The direct implication of this is: never ever write a bad code. You don’t need to be fastest and run after shipping dates; rather you need to write quality code. Never write junk code. Rewrite it till it is good. Thoroughly test every piece of code that you write. Donot write codes which are "sort of allright". You might not achieve perfection, but atleast your code should be of good quality.

- Let me quote my own example in this context. You might have heard about STL, The Standard Template Library that ships in with C++ compilers. I wrote it 10 years ago, in 1994. While implementing one of the routines in the STL, namely the "search routine", I was a bit lazy and instead of writing a good linear order implementation of KMP which was

difficult to code, I wrote a best quadratic implementation. I knew that I could make the search faster by writing a linear-order implementation, but I was lazy and I did not do that. And, after 10 years of my writing STL, exactly the same implementation is still used inside STL and STL ships with an inefficient quadratic implementation of search routine even today!! You might ask me: why can’t you rewrite that? Well...I cannot, because that code is no more my property!! Further, nobody today will be interested in a standalone efficient STL ...people would prefer one which automatically ships out with the compiler itself.

- Moral is, you should have aesthetic beauty built inside you. You should "feel" uneasy on writing bad code and should be eager to rewrite the code till it becomes upto the quality. And to the judge the quality, you need to develop sense regarding which algorithms to use under what circumstances.

3. Figure out your Goals

- Always aspire doing bigger things in life

- "Viewing promotion path as your career" is a completely wrong goal. If you are really interested in studying and learning new things, never ever aspire for being a manager. Managers cannot learn and study...they have no time. "Company ladder aspiration" is not what should be important for you.

- You might feel that you want to do certain things which you cannot do till you become a manager. When you become a manager, you will soon realize that now you just cannot do anything!

- You will have a great experience as programmers. But if you care for people and love people, you will never enjoy being a manager...most good managers are reluctant managers. If you see people as people, you cannot survive at management level.

- Always aspire for professional greatness. Our profession is very beautiful because we create abstract models and implement them in reality. There is a big fun in doing that. We have a profession which allows us to do creative things and even gives nice salary for that.

- The three biggest mistakes that people usually make are aiming for money, aiming for promotion and aiming for fame. The moment you get some of these, you aspire for some more...and then there is no end. I donot mean that you shouldnot earn money, but you should understand how much

money would satisfy your needs. Bill Clinton might be the richest person in the world; he is certainly not the happiest. Our lives are far better than his.

- Find your goal, and do best in the job that you have. Understand that what is in your pocket doesnot matter...what is in your brain finally matters. Money and fame donot matter. Knowledge matters.

4. Follow your culture
I have seen the tradition that whatever junk is created in US, it rapidly spreads up in the rest of the world, and India is not an exception for this. This cultural change creates a very strong impact on everybody’s life. Habits of watching spicy Bollywood or Hollywood movies and listening to pop songs and all such stupid stuff gets very easily cultivated in people of your age...but believe me, there is nothing great in that. This all just makes you run away from your culture. And there is no wisdom in running away from your culture. Indian culture, which has great Vedas and stories like Mahabharata and Bhagwatgeeta is really great and even Donald Knuth enjoys reading that. You should understand that fundamental things in Indian culture teach you a lot and you should never forget them.
Finally, I would like to conclude by saying that it’s your life...donot waste it on stupid things...develop your tests, and start the fight

Future Cell Phones... As, he walked along, he saw another man in the distance. He noticed this man kept leaning down, picking up something and throwing it out into the water, again and again.

As, he approached even closer, he noticed that the man was picking up starfish that had been washed up on the beach. He was throwing them back into the water, one by one.Puzzled, he approached the man and said,"Good Evening. I was wondering what you are doing.""I'm throwing these starfish back into the ocean. You see, it's low tide and all these starfish have been washed up onto the shore. If, Idon't throw them back into the ocean, they'll die up here from lack of oxygen."

"But, there must be thousands of starfish on this beach. You can't possible get to all of them. And, don't you realize this is probably happening on hundreds of beaches all up and down this coast. Can't you see that you can't possibly make a difference?"The man bent down and picked up yet another starfish, and threw it back into the ocean.

With a smile he replied, "Made a difference to that one !!!"

Just remember, no matter how small the deed it really does makes a difference.Make a difference today.Do something nice for someone else.

ATM pin

If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine,

you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse.

For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321.

The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine.The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber,the police will be immediately dispatched to help you.This information was recently broadcasted on TV and it states that it is seldom used because people don't know it exists.

Heart attack and warm water..

This is a very good article. Not only about the warm water after your meal, but about heart attacks.

This makes sense.. the Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals...not cold water...maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating!!!

A serious note about heart attacks:

You should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting.

PCs still running, coffee machines still buzzing... And who's at work? Most of them ??? Take a closer look...
All or most specimens are ??
Something male species of the human race...

Look closer... again all or most of them are bachelors... And why are they sitting late? Working hard? No way!!!Any guesses???

Let's ask one of them...Here's what he says... "What's there 2 do after going home...Here we getto surf, AC, phone, food, coffee that is why I am working late...Importantly no bossssssss!!!!!!!!!!!"

This is the scene in most research centers and software companies andother off-shore offices.Bachelors "Time-passing" during late hours in the office just bcoz they say they've nothing else to do...

Now what r the consequences...
"Working" (for the record only) late hours soon becomes part of theinstitute or company culture.With bosses more than eager to provide support to those "working" late in the form of taxi vouchers, food vouchers and of course good feedback, (oh,he's a hard worker... goes home only to change..!!).

They aren't helping things too...
To hell with bosses who don't understand the difference between "sitting" late and "working" late!!!Very soon, the boss start expecting all employees to put in extra workinghours.So, My dear Bachelors let me tell you, life changes when u get marriedand start having a family... office is no longer a priority, family is... and
That's when the problem starts... b'coz u start having commitments at hometoo.For your boss, the earlier "hardworking" guy suddenly seems to become a"early leaver" even if u leave an hour after regular time... after doing the same amount of work.
People leaving on time after doing their tasks for the day are labeled aswork-shirkers...Girls who thankfully always (its changing nowadays... though) leave ontime are labeled as "not up to it". All the while, the bachelors pat their own backs and carry on "working" not realizing that they r spoiling thework culture at their own place and never realize that they wuld have toregret at one point of time.

*So what's the moral of the story?? *
* Very clear, LEAVE ON TIME!!!
* Never put in extra time " *unless really needed *"
* Don't stay back un-necessarily and spoil your company work culturewhich will in turn cause inconvenience to you and your colleagues.

There are hundred other things to do in the evening..Learn music...Learn a foreign language...Try a sport... Overview of imperative programming
First do this and next do that
The 'first do this, next do that' is a short phrase which really describes the spirit of the imperative paradigm. The basic idea is the command, which has a measurable effect on the program state. The phrase also reflects that the order to the commands is important. 'First do that, then do this' would be different from 'first do this, then do that'.
In the itemized list below we describe the main properties of the imperative paradigm.

Characteristics:
· Discipline and idea : Digital hardware technology and the ideas of Von Neumann
· Incremental change of the program state as a function of time.
· Execution of computational steps in an order governed by control structures
· We call the steps for commands
· Typical commands offered by imperative languages :Assignment, IO, procedure calls
· Language representatives : Fortran, Algol, Pascal, Basic, C
· The natural abstraction is the procedure
· Abstracts one or more actions to a procedure, which can be called as a single command.
· "Procedural programming"
We use several names for the computational steps in an imperative language. The word statement is often used with the special computer science meaning 'a elementary instruction in a source language'. The word instruction is another possibility; We prefer to devote this word the computational steps performed at the machine level. We will use the word 'command' for the imperatives in a high level imperative programming language.
A procedure abstracts one or more actions to a procedure, which can be activated as a single action.

2. Overview of the functional paradigm
Functional programming is in many respects a simpler and more clean programming paradigm than the imperative one. The reason is that the paradigm originates from a purely mathematical discipline: the theory of functions. The imperative paradigm is rooted in the key technological ideas of the digital computer, which are more complicated, and less 'clean' than mathematical function theory.
Below we characterize the most important, overall properties of the functional programming paradigm.

Evaluate an expression and use the resulting value for something

Characteristics:
· Discipline and idea : Mathematics and the theory of functions
· The values produced are non-mutable
· Impossible to change any constituent of a composite value
· As a remedy, it is possible to make a revised copy of composite value
· Atemporal : Time only plays a minor role compared to the imperative paradigm
· Applicative : All computations are done by applying (calling) functions
· The natural abstraction is the function
· Abstracts a single expression to a function which can be evaluated as an expression.
· Functions are first class values
· Functions are full-fledged data just like numbers, lists, ...
· Fits well with computations driven by needs
· Opens a new world of possibilities

3. Overview of the logic paradigm
The logic paradigm is dramatically different from the other three main programming paradigms. The logic paradigm fits extremely well when applied in problem domains that deal with the extraction of knowledge from basic facts and relations. The logical paradigm seems less natural in the more general areas of computation.

Answer a question via search for a solution
Below we briefly characterize the main properties of the logic programming paradigm.

Characteristics:
· Discipline and idea : Automatic proofs within artificial intelligence
· Based on axioms, inference rules, and queries.
· Program execution becomes a systematic search in a set of facts, making use of a set of inference rules

4. Overview of the object-oriented paradigm
The object-oriented paradigm has gained great popularity in the recent decade. The primary and most direct reason is undoubtedly the strong support of encapsulation and the logical grouping of program aspects. These properties are very important when programs become larger and larger.
The underlying, and somewhat deeper reason to the success of the object-oriented paradigm is probably the conceptual anchoring of the paradigm. An object-oriented program is constructed with the outset in concepts, which are important in the problem domain of interest. In that way, all the necessary technicalities of programming come in second row.

Send messages between objects to simulate the temporal evolution of a set of real world phenomena
As for the other main programming paradigms, we will now describe the most important properties of object-oriented programming, seen as a school of thought in the area of computer programming.

Characteristics:
· Discipline and idea : The theory of concepts, and models of human interaction with real world phenomenon
· Data as well as operations are encapsulated in objects
· Information hiding is used to protect internal properties of an object
· Objects interact by means of message passing
· A metaphor for applying an operation on an object
· In most object-oriented languages objects are grouped in classes
· Objects in classes are similar enough to allow programming of the classes, as opposed to programming of the individual objects
· Classes represent concepts whereas objects represent phenomena
· Classes are organized in inheritance hierarchies
· Provides for class extension or specialization
This ends the overview of the four main programming paradigms.

Dont use the function gets( )

Never, never, NEVER use the function gets(). It is the most dangerous function in the entire C standard library because there is there is no way to use it safely!
Consider this example:
<stdio.h><stdio.h>
int main(void)
{
char name [25];
printf("Enter your name: ");
fflush(stdout);
if (gets(name) != NULL)
printf("Hello %s\n", name);
return 0;
}

What will happen if the user types fifty characters into twenty-five character array?
The answer is that gets() will fill up array and then keep on going, trying to write to memory past the end of the array which the program does not have the right to access. A program crash is likely.

You might also have heard that you should use the fgets() function, with stdin as the FILE * parameter, instead of gets(). Most people stop after saying that, but that doesn't actually give you the same result. gets() removes the '\n' character from the input but fgets() does not. That means you must manually remove the '\n' before passing the string to fopen(), or for many other uses.

Here is getsafe() function. Like gets() and fgets() both, it returns a pointer to char. This is either the pointer which was passed to it, or NULL if end of file or an error occurred. Like gets(), it removes the '\n' at the end of the string, if there is one. The prototype is:
char *getsafe(char *buffer, int count);
Here is the function:
char *getsafe(char *buffer, int count)
{
char *result = buffer, *np;
if ((buffer == NULL  or count <>result = NULL;

else if (count == 1)

*result = '\0';

else if ((result = fgets(buffer, count, stdin)) != NULL)

if (np = strchr(buffer, '\n'))

*np = '\0';

return result;

}

That's all it takes to safely get input strings from the standard input with the '\n' removed.

Why int main( ) ? but not void main( ) ?

The ANSI/ISO standards for C and C++ define the languages.
ANSI's International Standard For C
The function called at program startup is named main.
The implementation declares no prototype for this function. It can be defined with no parameters:
int main(void) { /* ... */ }
or with two parameters (referred to here as argc and argv, though any names may be used, as they are local to the function in which they are declared):
int main(int argc, char *argv[ ]) { /* ... */ }

This function shall not be overloaded.
It should have a return type of type int.

Practical Reasons To Return An int from main()
On many operating systems, the value returned by main() is used to return an exit status to the environment. On Unix, MS-DOS, and Windows systems, the low eight bits of the value returned by main() is passed to the command shell or calling program. This is often used to change the course of a program, batch file, or shell script.
Many compilers will refuse to compile a source code file containing a definition of main() which does not return an int.
On some platforms a program starting with void main() may crash on startup, or when it ends.
A program which contains a main() function that is not defined to return an int is just plain not real C or C++..

What should my "int main()" return?
As pointed out in the section above, it is extremely common for a program to return a result indication to the operating system. Some operating systems require a result code. And the return value from main(), or the equivalent value passed in a call to the exit() function, is translated by your compiler into an appropriate code.
There are three and only three completely standard and portable values to return from main() or pass to exit():
The plain old ordinary integer value 0.
The constant EXIT_SUCCESS defined in .
<cstdlib>The constant EXIT_FAILURE defined in .<stdlib.h><cstdlib>

If you use 0 or EXIT_SUCCESS your compiler's run time library is guaranteed to translate this into a result code which your operating system considers as successful.

If you use EXIT_FAILURE your compiler's run time library is guaranteed to translate this into a result code which your operating system considers as unsuccessful.

C++ Note
In a C++ program you do not have to return anything from int main()! The language standard guarantees that if your int main() function "falls off the end" by reaching the closing brace, the compiler will automatically return 0 for you indicating success.
Warnings
It is not good programming practice to take advantage of this C++ feature. Programs should always specifically indicate a return status.
C++ does not provide this automatic return for any function except int main().
C does not provide an automatic return value for main() or any other function. It is up to the program to specify a return value or the status returned to the operating system is undefined.
